Emory & Henry, Catholic Football to be Webcast Live
The Emory & Henry College vs. Catholic University football game on Saturday will be video webcast over the Internet by the ODAC and Penn Atlantic. The contest, set for 1:00 p.m. at Emory & Henrys Fullerton Stadium, is the third broadcast provided by the ODAC this season and will be provided FREE to the viewers. McManus, Sencindiver Named Players of the Week
Senior Ryan McManus (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) and sophomore Emily Sencindiver (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) have been named ODAC and Landmark Players of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in last week's athletic contests. McManus converted three of the offense's five touchdown passes in the Cardinals' win over #18 Hampden-Sydney.

Ryan McManus (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) grabbed seven catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns, as CUA upset No. 18 ranked Hampden-Sydney on the road Saturday, 33-21.

Football Wins in Shootout against W&L
Greg Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) ran for 211 yards on 28 carries, while Keith Ricca broke his older brother Kevin's career passing mark throwing for 287 yards and five touchdowns, as the Cardinals defeated the Generals of Washington & Lee in a shootout, 48-29.

Cards Deliver Crushing Blow to Privateers
Quarterback Keith Ricca (Poolesville, Md./St. John's Prospect Hall) completed four touchdown passes and threw for 296 yards as CUA obliterated SUNY Maritime by a score of 46-13 on Saturday afternoon. The football team improves to 5-1 on the year and 1-1 in the ODAC conference.

Football Demolishes McDaniel, Continues Undefeated Season
The Catholic University of America won their third straight game this Saturday, as they went head-to-head with non-conference opponent McDaniel College. Dominating from start to finish, the Cardinals managed to wrack up 31 points while holding the Green Terror to just seven.

Football Defeats Franklin and Marshall in Home Opener
Greg Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep)leads Catholic University with 125 yards rushing as the Cardinals defeat Franklin and Marshall 14-7. CUA handed the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall their first loss of the season with a 14-7 victory at Cardinal Stadium, Saturday. Browns 125 yards rushing led the way while Keith Ricca (Poolesville, Md./St. John's Prospect Hall) threw for 154 yards and two scores as the Cardinals balanced offense totaled nearly 300 yards on the day.

Catholic University Football Adds Two to Staff
The Catholic University of America football squad announced two additions to the coaching staff Tuesday. Former Syracuse University quarterback Marvin Graves will coach the QB's and Kevin Barger will lead the defensive line and special teams. Both coaches fill vacancies left by some off-season moves as former offensive coordinator Jeff Pedersen went to his alma mater, Grinnell College, and defensive coach Jake Zweig accepted a job at Iona College.

Cardinals Selected Sixth in ODAC Poll
Hampden-Sydney College, fresh off its fifth Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football title, was chosen to repeat as gridiron champions in the 2008 ODAC Football Preseason Coaches Poll. The Tigers received 47 overall votes and five first place nods with Randolph-Macon College occupying the second position with 41 tallies and the remaining two top selections. One vote separated Bridgewater College from Washington and Lee University (28 to 27) for third place with the same margin benefitting Guilford College over Catholic University (21 to 20) for the fifth slot. Emory & Henry College sits in the seventh position after receiving 12 poll points.

ODAC to Video Webcast 2008 Football Media Day
The opening event of the 2008-09 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) athletic schedule can be viewed by more than those just in attendance. For the second consecutive year, the ODAC will be video webcasting its 2008 Football Media Day LIVE over the Internet. Thanks to Penn Atlantic, provider of the league's streaming services, the event will be FREE to all viewers. The annual kickoff meeting is set for Friday, August 8 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. It will begin at 11:00 a.m.

BSN Member John Jacobs selected to NFL International Camp
The two players selected from the Beyond Sports Network are John Jacobs from Division III Catholic University, and Chris Phillips from Northwestern Oklahoma State and the semipro team Virginia Wolfpack. Dan Evans, a Catholic University Alumni and former player, now with the Beyond Sports Network, caught up with John Jacobs before his trip.

Cardinals Release 2008 Football Schedule
The Catholic University of America Department of Athletics released the 2008 football schedule on Tuesday. The Cardinals finished 5-5 with a 1-5 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. CUA will return almost the entire starting lineup and looks to improve on its conference record in 2008.

Goodman and Repass Named Senior Athletes of the Year
The Catholic University of America Department of Athletics held its annual Senior Banquet Thursday honoring all graduating athletes and giving out end of the year awards. Male and Female Athlete of the Year honors went to Mike Goodman (Brookville, Md./Sherwood) and Michele Repass (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) for their outstanding athletic careers at CUA. The awards are given out annually to a male and female who have impacted their team on the playing field for the last four years.

Olivero Earns All-South Region Honors From D3Football
Catholic University strong safety Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) has been named to the D3Football All-South Region third team the site announced Monday. Olivero was selected at strong safety after having a stellar year both on defense and as a returnman for the Cardinals who finished the season 5-5.

Pair of Cardinals Earn First Team All-ODAC Honors
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released the 2007 all-conference squad Wednesday morning and four Catholic University Cardinals received recognition. On the defense, Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) and Anthony DelBorrell (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) were both selected to the first team while Bill Gross (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was named honorable mention. Eagles Drop Cards in Final Game of 2007
The Catholic University football squad fell in its final game of 2007, 41-18, to the Bridgewater College Eagles (7-3, 3-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) Saturday afternoon. The Cards finish the season 5-5, with a 1-5 record in the ODAC. This marks the first time since 2000 that CUA has finished .500 and with five wins being the most since that season as well. It also shows a marked improvement for the graduating seniors who have increased the win total every season.

Cardinals Have Tough Day on the Gridiron in 34-27 Loss
What looked like a great game for Catholic University football (5-4, 1-4 ODAC) went sour late in the second half as CUA fell 34-27 to the Guilford Quakers (5-4, 1-4 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium. The Cards had a first and goal to go ahead but couldnt produce and later fumbled just yards from the goal line making it a tough loss to take.

The Catholic University of America athletic department announced that Jay Sobke and Reuben Simmons were the recipients of the 2006 football awards at halftime of Saturdays game. 2007 graduates were both be honored at halftime of the Cardinals' home game tomorrow against Emory and Henry.

Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) had three interceptions and the Catholic University defense forced seven turnovers on their way to a 31-21 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over the Emory & Henry College Wasps (4-4, 1-3 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium. The win gave CUA (5-3, 1-3 ODAC) its first conference win of the season and some momentum going into next weeks final home game versus Guilford, who is winless in the ODAC.

Catholic University football suffered a tough defeat Saturday afternoon at the hands of the Hampden-Sydney Tigers (6-2, 4-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference). The Cardinals fell 49-39 in an offensive battle where the teams combined for almost 1,000 offensive yards. With the loss the Cards fall to 4-3 on the season and remain winless in ODAC play.

The Catholic University football team (4-2, 0-2 ODAC) ran out of time versus the Washington and Lee Generals (3-1, 1-1 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Virginia. After leading at the half the Cards were looking at a 14-point deficit early in the fourth quarter. Per usual CUA staged a big comeback but ran out of time to fall 28-21.

Cards Overpower Green Terror
On a Saturday when the Catholic University football squad (3-0) was looking to stay undefeated the team went back to what it does best, the passing game. Despite solid results running the ball the last two weeks, CUA utilized an effective aerial attack to get the 28-21 victory over the McDaniel Green Terror (0-3) Saturday afternoon at Bair Stadium. The win ends McDaniels six-game win streak over the Cards which dates back to 1936.

Cards Battle Bishops to 20-14 Win
What looked like a near disaster for the Catholic University football squad (2-0) was saved by an interception in the end zone by junior defensive back Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson). His pick ended an Ohio Wesleyan (0-2) drive filled with penalties and miscues giving the Cardinals the 20-14 victory and improving them to 2-0 on the season. After going ahead early the CUA offense was unable to generate point in the second half but the defense was able to hold on to keep the Cards perfect in 2007.

Late Touchdown is Key to CUA Victory
With time winding down quarterback Keith Ricca (Poolesville, Md./St. Johns Prospect) completed a 43-yard pass to Andrew Buis (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) to score CUAs only touchdown in the Cards 7-6 victory over the Shenandoah Hornets Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium. Thomas Breslins extra point gave CUA the lead and an outstanding performance by the defense held on for the victory. The win marked the first time Catholic University has won its season opener at home since 1998.

Zyglocke Named Defensive Coordinator
Catholic University head football coach Dave Dunn has named Brian Zyglocke the new defensive coordinator. Zyglocke replaces Art Link who coached the Cardinal defense for one season. He joins the staff from McDaniel College where he served as the defensive backs coach for two years.

Six Cardinals Earn University Honors
Last Thursday evening The Catholic University of America held its Student Leadership Recognition Celebration. Among the 27 undergraduate awards given out, seven were honored with six receiving individual recognition. Kelli McErlean, a member of the track and field squad, was one of the masters of ceremonies and also received one of the twelve Student Activities Awards for her work with campus ministry.

The Catholic University football team has released its 2007 football schedule. The team will play all six Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponents and four non-conference games. The Cards have their bye week scheduled for October 13 giving them an extra week of rest before three big home conference match-ups.

CUA Drops a Close One to Bridgewater in Season Finale
In Catholic Universitys final football game the team took on last years Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion the Bridgewater Eagles (8-2, 4-2 ODAC). The Cardinals were not intimidated by their opponent and came just one touchdown away from putting together a victory in their final game of 2006. With the loss CUA drops to 3-7 and 1-5 in the ODAC for the year but has a promising future graduating just four seniors, two from the starting lineup.

Quakers Roll Over Cardinals 41-18
CUA had a tough day all around against the Guilford College Quakers (6-3, 3-2 ODAC) losing 41-18 and dropping to 3-6, 1-4 ODAC for the season. Although quarterback Keith Ricca (Poolesville, Md./St. Johns Prospect Hall) threw for 446 yards and three touchdowns, he also had five interceptions in the loss. The incredibly physical game was close in the opening quarter but a big second stanza put the Cards down by 21 and they couldnt make up the deficit.

The Catholic University of Americas Noah Rogers (Lorton, Va./Bishop OConnell) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 29. The local product had an outstanding performance despite the Cardinals 31-27 loss to Emory and Henry on Saturday.

Going into their final series, it looked as if the Catholic University football team (3-5, 1-3 ODAC) was going to come back and beat the Emory & Henry Wasps (5-3, 3-1 ODAC) relying on the downfield passing of Keith Ricca. Instead, CUAs opportunity was once again stopped short by a turnover giving the Wasps the 31-27 win after a tumultuous game for both squads.

The Catholic University of America football team (3-4, 1-2 ODAC) fell 41-21 to league opponent Hampden-Sydney (3-4, 3-2 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Virginia. The Cards played the game close looking at a one-touchdown deficit to start the fourth quarter, but the running of Charlie Omick was too much as the senior rushed four two TDs in the final stanza.

Turnovers Plague Cardinals in 27-14 Loss
For the second game in a row the Catholic University football team (3-3, 1-1 ODAC) had four turnover s for the afternoon. And for the second week in a row it proved to be a major factor in the outcome of the game. With the defense stopping the La Salle Explorers (2-4, 0-1 MAAC) on nine third downs and one fourth, the offense continuously gave it back resulting in a 27-14 loss at DuFour Field Saturday afternoon.

Generals March Past Cards
A rainy, overcast Saturday turned even more unpleasant for the Catholic University Cardinal football squad (3-2, 1-1 ODAC) dropping a 28-0 decision to the Washington and Lee Generals (4-1, 2-0 ODAC) at DuFour Field. The CUA running game that had been a powerful option in past weeks was virtually nonexistent rushing for -28 yards on the afternoon.

The Catholic University of America athletic department announced the winners of the 2005 football awards Friday afternoon. 2006 graduates Bobby Stutz and Bill Cooper will both be honored at halftime of the Cardinals home game tomorrow against Washington and Lee. The Anthony J. Bottoni Leadership Award and the Ronnie McManes Award are both annual awards given out to two of the top players on and off of the field from the past season.

Defense Stops Randolph-Macon
The CUA Cardinal football team (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) proved that defense truly wins games Saturday against the Randolph-Macon College Yellowjackets (2-2, 0-1 ODAC). The Cardinal defense accounted for an impressive seven sacks for 44 yards. CUA also stopped the aerial game allowing only three completions by the Yellowjackets and one interception.

The Cardinal football squad (2-1) will travel to Ashland, Va., this Saturday to battle the Randolph Macon (2-1) Yellowjackets in the teams ODAC opener. The Yellowjackets currently lead the series 12-14-1, but the Cardinals hold an advantage after defeating RMC 28-24 at DuFour Field in 2005.

Senior Ryan Bowman (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) has been honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week the organization announced Tuesday. Bowman was the leading receiver in the Cardinals 34-33 overtime win against Ohio Wesleyan last Saturday. The win improved CUA to 2-0, their best start since 1998.

(Sept. 9, 2006) - Ryan Bowman's (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) catch in the end zone with one second left in regulation brought the Catholic University crowd it its feet Saturday afternoon at DuFour Field. The touchdown capped a 1:43 march down the field and would eventually lead to the Cardinals (2-0) 34-33 overtime win over the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops (0-2).

Football Honors Barbieri
WINCHESTER, Va. (Sept. 1, 2006)- As time ran out at Shentel Stadium in Winchester, Va., Thursday evening, the CUA Cardinals were laughing and looking for their new coach to douse with water, celebrating the teams first win of the 2006 season. But the real world loomed as the team took a knee on the field to listen to the post-game speech. Instead of the usual praise and excitement, head coach Dave Dunn reminded the team someone important was missing.

Cardinals Get it Dunn Against Hornets
The Dunn era began with a bang Thursday night as the CUA Cardinals traveled to Shenandoah University to take on the Hornets on the first night of the 2006 college football season. The 17-6 win featured CUAs impressive defense and showcased the pair of quarterbacks that will lead the Cards this year. Catholic University snapped a road losing streak than began during the 2003 season, it also marked the Cardinals first win in week one since 1998.
